Writing with heart, speaking truth means expressing my authentic self and emotions through my words. I'm being honest, vulnerable, and sincere in my poetry. - LaTesha Monique

From the beginning, my journey on IG has been full of challenges and rebirths. I first gained a following of 40k under ‘Oshun the Poet,’ sharing my soul through words, but time and time again, my accounts were hacked and stolen from me. Each time I built again—from scratch, twice—only to face the same setbacks. But here I am, with 100 posts, and every one of them represents not just a milestone, but a triumph over the obstacles that tried to hold me back.

Now, I go by LaTesha Monique, and I’m more determined than ever to grow a community around my poetry, share my truth, and build something lasting. Tupac’s The Rose That Grew from Concrete perfectly captures this journey for me:

‘Did you hear about the rose that grew from a crack in the concrete?
Proving nature’s laws wrong, it learned to walk without having feet.’

Like that rose, I’ve grown through the cracks and the struggles, proving that no matter the challenge, beauty and strength can still emerge. I know that Yahweh has been my guiding light through it all—providing the strength to rise each time I fall.

2024 was a year of growth, creation, and bold decisions. Here’s a look back at the milestones that shaped my journey:

**January:** I rested and began writing my book *Southern Hospitality*.
**February:** Took the stage for my first spoken word performance at a sip & paint event.
**March:** Empowered women with my words at my first Women’s Empowerment event.
**April:** Returned to my high school as an honorable alumna, performing at the very first poetry program.
**May:** Took my poetry to a new town, performing in Chase City, VA for the first time.
**June:** Dedicated myself to writing more, focusing on my craft.
**July:** Reconnected with nature and found peace.
**August:** Took time for self-isolation and reflection.
**September:** Founded Latemoni Book Cafe, starting as a flea market vendor and evolving into a literary arts program with our first class launching in March 2025.
**October:** Made my debut as a Spotify artist, featured on my first album.
**November:** Released *Southern Hospitality*, sharing my experiences and insights as a Southern Belle in the hotel industry, helping others to be better.
**December:** Evolved spiritually, grew closer to God, and made a bold change—shaving off my hair and embracing my short, curly natural look, feeling braver and bolder than ever.
